The Hand and Malt announced plans to launch a premium apple cider company, serving “Korea’s first all natural, hand crafted hard [cider],” called The Hand and Apple.
The Hand & Malt continues to be busy with the release of a collaboration beer with Stone called Sujeonggwa Red Ale. “Similar to the traditional Korean dessert punch. This beer has a cinnamon aroma and taste, backed up by dried fruit from the persimmons, and finishes with a hint of spiciness from the ginger.”
The imports are flooding in. Brooklyn Brewery, Founders, Goose Island, and Firestone Walker have all recently had tap takeovers in the city. Make sure to check your local pubs and bottle shops for a chance to try some great imports. Or just be chill and stick to the local stuff. 😉
Speaking of imports, BC’s Fuggles & Warlock beers will be at Craftbros this weekend as well as Firestone Walker.

Meet the Founder of Jing-A at Mikkeller Seoul
For Mikkeller Seoul’s 1st birthday, a visiting brewer from Jing-A, a Beijing based brewery, comes to Seoul. Anyone who attended The Booth’s Beer Week festival might have had a chance to try some interesting beers from Jing-A, including a funky sour that tasted like liquid blue cheese. I hated it… until I started liking it.
Visit the Facebook page for details, including their incredibly large and unique tap list.
June 9th-12th in Pangyo from noon-10pm
Korean Craft Beer Show
A fourth company to host a craft beer festival this Spring/Summer? Looks like it. This newest festival will be held over four days at Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo and will directly compete with the GKBF’s Everland event. We’ve had beer fests held on consecutive weeks last month, but this will be the first time two companies go head-to-head on the same weekend.
I’ve reached out to the event organizers and will hopefully have more English info soon. You can also visit their Facebook page.
June 10-12th at Everland (Yongin)
If you thought the Great Korean Beer Festival was exciting, imagine doing it in the shadows of rollercoasters! Last’s summer was supposed to be the first Everland GKBF, but it was cancelled due to the MERS scare. But this year it’s back. Who knows how fun it could be?
